Manager, Service Business Design

We are looking for a

Manager, Service Business Design

with the purpose to define and develop a customer value focused service development process, owning the development process and to lead service development projects.

In this position you will report to Vice President, New Service Business Concepts and will work with the Kalmar Services organisation, especially with the Digital development teams, Market Intelligence, and in addition with our customers, front line units, and product lines.

Key responsibilities

  • Defining and developing a customer-focused service business development process and operating model utilising the service design methodology

  • Owning the service business development process

  • Running the new services conceptualisation process which includes validation of new business concepts with customers in the early stage of development

  • Identifying new service business opportunities together with Market Intelligence and Digital development teams, other internal stakeholders and customers

  • Validating new service business concepts with external and internal customers

  • Active participation in the development of Kalmar’s digital customer experience (e.g. MyKalmar, eCommerce) and user experience of frontline tools

  • Supporting other internal teams with service design approach

Our expectations

In order to be successful in this position we believe you fulfil the following criteria:

Education

  • Master’s degree in design, business / industrial management, engineering, information technology or similar

Experience

  • At least 5 years of working experience, in service business and/or heavy machinery industry

  • Business development experience in the field of digital services relevant to heavy machinery industry

  • Experience in agile business development, service conceptualisation, service design and customer co-creation processes

  • Experience in developing new (digital) services

Competencies

  • Customer service mindset

  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills

  • Driven by new value creation for customers

  • Capability to understand, identify and crystallize customer needs and hidden needs

  • Understanding of how to apply design thinking and service design methodologies in heavy machinery industry to create new services

  • Understanding of how to create service concepts that deliver customer value

  • General IT skills, understanding of field service tools, ERP systems, IoT platforms, and other systems and platforms used in service business

  • A thorough knowledge of the business processes and operations in area of responsibility

  • Ability to work under pressure to keep agreed deadlines

  • Ability to work in international environment

  • Fluent in English, preferably also in Finnish or Swedish (written and spoken)

Key success factors

  • Creating new concepts bringing value to external and internal customers

  • Defining the new development process including collaboration with selected pilot customers to validate the developed concepts

  • Capability to define new way of working and to introduce the method to the organisation

  • Succeeding in stakeholder relationship management

The office location for this job is in Helsinki or Tampere, Finland or in Ljungby, Sweden.
